Welcome to the official homepage of Rolli´s record shop.

The year is 1966...

++ This website presents Rolli´s record shop, being set up in Malmö, south Sweden in 1966, by Rolli Fölsch and Lennart Nobel, two young men with a commercial interest in recorded popular music.

++ From 1966 and onwards, Rolli´s sold LPs and singles directly imported from the USA and Britain. This direct import appeared as a spectacular thing, a sheer novelty at the time when the big record wholesale distributors, such as EMI, controlled the market.

++ Rolli´s, with its fresh assortment of the latest in popular music, indeed developed the interest in music, as well as the dj business and music entertainment generally, in and around the city of Malmö.

++ To customers a great variety of fresh pop and rock releases of original US and UK labels, neatly packaged in thin plastic, at once became available. And at hardly beatable prices, too: seven inch single: full price 4:90 SEK. Cut out single ( re-sale ): 1 SEK. And LPs: full price 19:75 SEK. Cut out LP: around 5 SEK.

++ The news of Rolli´s, the little record shop at Lilla Torg in central Malmö, selling vinyl on a large scale and with a rapid distribution, spread out quickly among music fans.

++ Rolli´s soon became an acknowledged record store
professionally competing with other bigger record shops in the city of Malmö.

++ Today, original vinyl LPs and singles in good mint condition, once bought at Rolli´s, still exist on the shelves of many collectors.

++ In May 1967, Rolli´s was the first record shop in the world selling the Sergeant Pepper album by the Beatles - the original Apple release - and at the sensationally low retail prize of 19:75 SEK. Sergeant Pepper meant commercial success for the young Rolli´s shop. This unrivalled story is told on pages 3 and 4, in Swedish.
